The Castlegate Centre provides day centre facilities for young adults aged 19-40 who have a physical, sensory or learning disability. The Centre is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday between 10:00 and 15:00.
There is also a drop-in club for the over 40's, held on a Wednesday morning.
A wide range of activities is on offer, arts and crafts, pottery, computers with touch screens and specialised keypads, as well as a video recorder, camera and electric keyboard.
A selection of therapies is on offer. Or clients can be helped to develop independent living skills, such as shopping and some cooking skills. Castlegate can also provide support and advice with any problems they may experience.
The Centre is funded by a small daily charge to clients and by asking for a payment for any craft materials used. Lunch is available at a reasonable cost and a small tuck shop is provided. However, as the centre is based in the town centre, some clients prefer to buy their own meals and take them in. Tea, coffee and soft drinks are available all day.
